March Inventing Madness

Saturday, Mar 20, 2021 at 9:01AM Repeating event

March in Inventing Madness.

Kids will have to bring old broken toys or electronics. See the image below for more detail.

They will have the opportunity to discover what is inside by taking them apart. This month’s challenge will be to choose some of the technology they find inside, research it and then invent something from it. They can work in teams of 2 or individually. Here is the event schedule.

Saturday 9-12 (3 hours)
1 Present what they brought.
2 Completely disassemble it and digitally document it. (Stage 1 of Reverse Engineering)
4 Choose a technology inside to research and create with.
5 Generate an Idea, sketch out the design, and find materials.
6 Cleanup and review
7 Sleep on it.

Sunday 1-4 (3 hours)
1 Morning project review, then get a building!
2 Test, redesign and retest until they have a working prototype.
3 Present what they made.
4 Clean up and review.

If any parents want to volunteer to help out during class msg or call me. (306) 315-87347
I’m excited to see some of the interesting things kids come up with over the next month. Remember don't judge your kids' work on how it looks, it will look terrible, they are kids. It’s like listening to your kid’s musical abilities after one saxophone lesson, it’s not good. The same applies to creativity skills, the more they practice the better they get at it, and the better their creations will begin looking. What is important, is that they struggle and grow during the process.

See you there!
